Sniffapalooza Fall Ball 2013

I recently became acquainted with what seemed to be a really interesting and fun concept for an event- Sniffapalooza! Being one who love all things fragrant, I thought this event would be perfect for me. I couldn’t wait for the sniffing spree that I was about to embark upon.

After a few mishaps that I won’t get into in much detail here (this is, after all, a blog about the senses, not things that went awry), I did get to sample countless fragrances. The event wasn’t quite was I was expecting- I could have experienced the same thing just by walking into any department store on my own and visiting all the counters. However, it was nice to designate some time specifically for this activity, and sniff some of the greatest perfumes of the world. (I did have the world’s “most expensive perfume” sprayed on me- I’m going to wager that the one spritz alone would be valued at $20 lol).

Some of my favorites:

Rose Anonyme by Atelier A very wearable oud with hints of rose, this fragrance actually smelled like it had similar notes to that of Thierry Mugler’s Angel.

Wild Bluebell by Jo Malone This cologne smelled very fresh and earthy with a floral kick, and is definitely unlike my “typical” favorites. I would definitely consider wearing this scent.

Nectarine Blossom and Honey by Jo Malone I liked this one a lot too, but it was a little too heavy on the “peach” smell. I wouldn’t wear it as fragrance but would consider it for a body wash or lotion. Perhaps I would like it better mixed with something else. All in all, I really enjoyed my introduction to Jo Malone fragrances and would consider scheduling a consultation to create my own mix.

Acqua Fiorentina by CREED Another gem, I really enjoyed this one. Definitely smelled fruity with some warmth.

Sniffapalooza definitely appealed to my love of fragrances and revitalized my interest in learning more about perfume-making. I hope to one day take a few classes and also create my own unique “signature scent”!
